Determinants of brand equity for credence goods: Consumers' preference for country origin, perceived value and food safety

Food safety is an important credence attribute that is increasingly being emphasized by the food industry, regulatory bodies and the consumers around the world. Consumers cannot predict ex ante performance of the product based on the credence attributes due to information asymmetry, and they need a signal that they can trust in purchasing a food product with high credence attributes. Consumers are likely to use a brand name as a surrogate of the quality and the safety guarantee in purchasing food products with credence attributes. An effective brand management appears to be a major prerequisite for the creation of superior customer...

Agric. Econ. - Czech, 2012, 58(7):308-314 | DOI: 10.17221/72/2011-AGRICECON
The paper is aimed at the demand for beef. Its objective is to evaluate the development of beef consumption in the market of the Czech Republic, and particularly to identify the factors affecting the level of demand for beef. It refers to the analysis of the development of beef consumption in the Czech Republic depending on its price and costs of the selected kinds of its near substitutes, when their relationships are evaluated through their relationships are evaluated methods of regression and correlation analysis. The paper proves statistically the existence of relations among these crucial factors determining the demand. There are, of course, other...

Traditional farming on agricultural land under the standard soil and natural-climatic conditions within the EU is based on the structure of the polygastric livestock (especially cattle), which ensures the complex carbon recycling and its return to arable soil. In the last 15 years, we have been witnessing to a sharp decline in the number of dairy cows in the Czech Republic. This fact has resulted in certain destabilising factors that have disrupted the stability of the biological system. Breeding dairy cows and its profitability is a function of the conditions for the realisation of milk production. This paper examines these aspects within a complex...
Modelling farmer participation to a revenue insurance scheme by the means of the Positive Mathematical Programming

Agric. Econ. - Czech, 2012, 58(7):324-331 | DOI: 10.17221/127/2011-AGRICECON
European farmers face an increasing income uncertainty. The debate is growing on the role of the insurance schemes and on the support provided by the CAP in this field. Therefore, there is a need for the empirical analysis and the tools aimed at providing empirical evidences on this subject. This paper develops an innovative Positive Mathematical Programming model that takes into explicit consideration the risk aversion behaviour. This is used to investigate the implications of participating in the crop revenue insurance scheme. In particular, a quadratic mix integer program has been developed on a small group of crop farms in Italy and it has been...
Time and frequency domain in the business cycle structure

The presented paper deals with the identification of cyclical behaviour of business cycle from the time and frequency domain perspective. Herewith, methods for obtaining the growth business cycle are investigated - the first order difference, the unobserved component models, the regression curves and filtration using the Baxter-King, Christiano-Fitzgerald and Hodrick-Prescott filter. In the case of the time domain, the analysis identification of cycle lengths is based on the dating process of the growth business cycle. Thus, the right and left variant of the naive techniques and the Bry-Boschan algorithm are applied. In the case of the frequency domain,...
