Managerial decision making - importance of intuition in the rational process

The article contributes to the debate over the use of intuition in the managerial decision making. A brief overview of the debate is further elaborated with the comparison of findings brought about by two surveys conducted in the field settings. The comparison shows some similarities - for instance, the number of respondents admitting their reliance on intuition in decision making, but also some major differences.

The relations between the rent and price of agricultural land in the EU countries

The price of agricultural land and its value are of importance when forming the production potential of agricultural enterprises. The price of land marked an irregular development in the period 2006-2007 having increased in the majority of the EU states. The proportion of rent to the market price of land referred to as the capitalization rate kept varying within the range of 2-3%. Competitiveness of agrarian trade of EU-15 countries in comparison with new EU member states

The paper analyses the commodity structure of agrarian trade of the EU countries. The comparative advantages of particular aggregations are accentuated from the view-point of their use on the EU internal market, and on the world market. The analysis is based on an evaluation of comparative advantages by means of a modified Ballas index. It is viewed on two levels, for the EU internal market and the world market. The article describes the concentration process, structural changes and competitiveness in the German agri-food sector over the last decade. This descriptive analysis aims to outline the developments at the individual stages of the food chain and to identify the challenges the sector will face in the upcoming years.
