An important issue in the theory of social constructivism is the issue of spatial arrangement. Space is grasped as the primary/secondary zone of operation. The secondary zone of operation is determined by the use of technical means. Technically conditioned social networks currently give a new dimension to both zones. From this point of view, the new solutions for the network/agglomeration economies arise: networks may substitute for agglomerations.

The impacts of local endogenous initiatives on the public (the case of the Tradice Bílých Karpat)

The paper addresses the initiative Tradice Bílých Karpat. It is the example of innovative use of local resources through joining together organic farmers and environmentalists. Content analysis (research technique used in combination with case study) proved to be an efficient tool when evaluating the impacts of this initiative for the public. The results documenting the impacts of this initiative for the public are rather of regional nature. They address only some activities of the Tradice Bílých Karpat, mostly those concentrated around processing of local apples. The renewal of the rural cultural heritage of the Czech Republic with the support of regional policy

The paper focuses on rural immovable cultural heritage as a part of the infrastructure for certain forms of tourism. Using the secondary analysis method, it compares data about the support of rural cultural heritage in the pre-accession period (2002) and after the Czech Republic joined the EU (2004-2006). Conclusions include a broader issue of animation of cultural heritage for the purpose of rural development.

Social factors influencing the differences between developed and less developed regions

The aim of the rural development programs is the stabilisation of rural population and forming the perspectives for increasing the quality of life for all social groups in the communities as well as in the region. Less developed areas suffer for a long term from the cumulated negative factors of economic and social development. Their detailed identification which is theoretically considered in this paper can help to improve the particular measures towards the removal of the most urgent problems.
