Formation of strategic development intentions of Czech agriculture is determined from a viewpoint of external factors by European integrating processes and strengthening tendencies of globalisation. This multi-dimensional process is a driving power and at the same time also an eliminating factor of many development trends. The sustainable dimension of globalisation is formed in the frame of the world society, world economics, world ecology and world policy. Problems of world agriculture are represented by the intersection of these trends and present a starting point for the formation of the European and Czech agricultural policy.

The evaluation of economic situation and comparison of Czech and French agricultural enterprises

The comparison of Czech and French agriculture results shows a higher intensity, productivity and profitability of French agriculture. There are just small differences in the effectiveness of the production. The Czech agricultural enterprises have been in economic distress for several years and only a low portion of them is able to modernize and increase reproduction. There is also highlighted the importance of the EU Common Agricultural Policy for the development and stabilization of French agriculture.

The bank approach to a credit obligor - a farm business - in the context of credit risk and capital adequacy

The objective of this paper is to enable a bank's view towards a credit obligor. Banks are subject to a lot of financial risks. Credit risk is the most important one. Banks also have to manage the objective of maximum profit on one hand, the prudential rules on the other hand. Recently, the Bank for International Settlements submitted a new concept of prudential rules (The New Basel Capital Accord) that should be accepted by national regulators and applied from 2006/7. Evaluation of the effectiveness of intensification costs

The article concerns an evaluation of intensification costs in an agricultural enterprise. Intensification cost dynamics are evaluated in comparison with the in-kind production volume. Differentiation and reasons of decline of agricultural enterprises in Slovakia

This contribution deals with the differentiation of agricultural enterprises, with focus on the declining enterprises as the most troublesome. In 2000, these businesses generated about 47% of the total loss in agriculture. In this respect, the methodological procedure was also used for the purpose of tipping out the highly unprofitable enterprises. The support of farming and revenues of enterprises located in less- favoured areas in Slovakia

The complex solution of farming in worse natural conditions and exploitation of land fund result from the successive transformation of agricultural policy and the preparation of agrarian sector for the accession of Slovakia into the European Union. The character of this policy will have the immediate impact on economy mainly of enterprises farming in less-favoured areas (LFA). In the study, we present the actual data about the allocation of agricultural land and agricultural farms into the LFA using the database of information system on land and the soil quality database which is managed by the Research Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics.

The analysis of financial situation of agricultural enterprises in productive and marginal conditions with the use of non-financial indicators

The paper is focused on the evaluation of the development of financial situation of agricultural co-operatives in the CzechRepublic in 1997-2000 operating in both productive and marginal regions. The comparison of financial situation in these two groups of agricultural firms comes from the classification of firms according to productive regions.
